How To Incorporate Pantone's 2021 Colours Into Your Home

Pantone has selected not one, but two colours for 2021. They are Ultimate Grey, a light, soft grey, and illuminating, a light, vibrant yellow. These colours were selected because they conveyed "a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting". Another good thing about this year's selections? They're incredibly easy to incorporate into your home decor. Here's how.

Illuminating Yellow

Pantone describes illuminating as "a bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power". Here are a few ways, big and small, to introduce this colour into your home:

  • Paint your front door: This may be a bold choice, but Pantone actually recommends it. "Painting a front door in bright yellow illuminating conveys a warm and welcoming message", says Pantone.
  • Paint an accent wall: If you have a blank wall, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a coat of paint in a standout shade like illuminating. The good thing about painting an accent wall is that you can always change it.
  • Add an accent chair: Make a bold, fun statement with a yellow accent chair. No matter what style you choose, it'll instantly brighten up a space.
  • Throw in a few accessories: If you're not ready for a big change, add pops of yellow through accessories. This could be a pillow cushions, throw blankets, table linens, and decorative items on your shelves.
Ultimate Grey

According to Pantone, Ultimate Grey is "emblematic of solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation". If you don't already have this colour in your home, here's how to start adding it into your décor:
  • Paint the walls: This is a colour that's versatile and timeless. That means you can go all out and paint your walls or kitchen cabinets knowing it will stay in style for years to come.
  • Switch up your sheets: There's just something cool and calming about an all-grey bed.
  • Swap out your curtains: Grey curtains will beautifully frame your windows while adding warmth and elegance to a room.

GTA REALTORS Release March 2025 Stats

Homeownership in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) became more affordable in March 2025 compared to the previous year. On average, both borrowing costs and home prices have declined over the past year, making monthly payments more manageable for households looking to buy a home. “Homeownership has become more affordable over the past 12 months, and we expect further rate cuts this spring. Buyers will also benefit from increased choice, giving them greater negotiating power. Once consumers feel confident in the economy and their job security, home buying activity should improve,” said Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB) President Elechia Barry-Sproule. “Given the current trade uncertainty and the upcoming federal election, many households are likely taking a wait-and-see approach to home buying. If trade issues are solved or public policy choices help mitigate the impact of tariffs, home sales will likely increase. Home buyers need to feel their employment situation is solid before ...
