Stay Cool and Save your Money

As temperatures begin to rise, you’ll want to be sure your air conditioning is operating at maximum efficiency to help keep your energy bill from ballooning. Beyond maintaining the basic operation of you’re A/C unit, there are several ways to reduce to the load on your system and ensure your home air temperature is optimal, such as:

•Raise the temperature – By setting your thermostat a few degrees higher than you normally would, your AC doesn’t have to work as hard to maintain a comfortable temperature.

•Open window awnings and close drapery and blinds – This will help keep the heat out.

•Use a dehumidifier – To lower moisture levels, making the air inside your home feel more comfortable.

•Install a ceiling fan – This will help to increase air circulation, making rooms more bearable at warmer temperatures.

•Reduce your use of heat-generating major appliances – such as oven, cooktop, dishwasher, laundry machines and non-LED lighting.

•Install a smart thermostat – With an app on your phone you can control the temperature of your home while out, and you can also program it to update the temperature based on the time of day.

•Seal any gaps around windows and make sure your attic’s insulation is properly installed – This will ensure cool air isn’t escaping.
