Choosing Vinyl Laminate Flooring

Replacing a floor used to be a daunting project, compounded by the added cost of hiring expert tradespeople. Thankfully, there are now many options, largely due to popular vinyl laminate floors that can be installed surprisingly easily. In fact, even if you're not an ambitious do-it-yourselfer and you hire professional installers, you can still save money because the interlocking pieces make the job much quicker. However, there are significant precautions that must be taken before making such an economical purchase. Beyond your new floor's colour, pattern or design, you must consider the demands you may put on it. 

For example, if your installation is on below-grade concrete, you need to be sure there is a vapour barrier that prevents moisture from damaging your floor. Furthermore, even if you are installing on above-ground concrete, such as on a high-rise floor, you will likely want a laminate that includes a layer that provides some cushion underfoot. Of course, if you have a wooden subfloor, you may expect it will offer some give to relieve fatigue. However, you ought to consider soundproofing between the wooden floors. Fortunately, there are many types of laminate flooring so you can choose the one that performs best for your situation.
